Farmers Market Assistant: Schenectady Greenmarket, Troy Waterfront Market
We are seeking farmers market assistants for the 2024 season for our farmers markets in Schenectady and Troy. Schenectady hours run from 9am-3pm for $100/day and free-choice produce up to $25 value. Troy hours run from 8am-3pm for $115/day and free-choice produce up to $25/value. The position starts in May and ends in November, with the possibility for work to continue on into the winter.

Field Positions: 8-40 hrs/week. $16/hr+
Job Description
We are hiring for field help for the 2024 season with positions ranging from 8-40hrs/week, starting at $16/hour or more depending on experience. We will work with you to design a committed schedule, whether that looks like a series of 8-hour days, some half-days throughout the week, or something in between. The position starts in April and end in November with the possibility for work to continue on into the winter. Weekend availability is preferred. All employees will receive a CSA share or equivalent dollar value towards produce every week.
We are primarily looking for great people to work with. The best candidates for the position thrive working independently as well as part of a small team, work with care and consideration, and can accept instruction and feedback. The work we do can be difficult, prolonged and repetitive, so the capacity to find enjoyment doing it is a must. We love what we do, sharing our knowledge and experience with others, and learning from others.
Responsibilities will include cultivation, tunnel crop maintenance, transplanting, starting seeds, setting irrigation, harvest, post-harvest washing and market prep. This is not a farmers market position, but please indicate in your application if you have an interest in that. We work in most all conditions (sun, rain, snow, wildfire smoke depending on the aqi and with masks) and prioritize health and safety.
Must:
Demonstrated capacity for manual labor is required. Prior farming experience preferred.
Be able to lift 50lbs regularly.
Have reliable transportation.
Value organic food.
